Local owner and Chef Dylan Murray, a Peninsula veteran with 15 years of experience, embarked on a remarkable journey. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked tirelessly to bring his dream of a restaurant and wine bar to life, and thus, Ordain Bistro was born.
As you step into this quaint nook, you'll immediately notice the warm and inviting ambiance, complete with a cozy dining room that accommodates up to 30 people. Notably, Ordain is a dog-friendly venue, boasting three resident pooches—Pepper, Chip, and Grills—who eagerly await the arrival of your furry companions while you savor cocktails in the outdoor area, accompanied by breathtaking sunset views.
Ordain's wine selection is a testament to Dylan's passion for exceptional flavors. The dining room showcases an impressive array of wine bottles from around the world, complemented by an extensive collection of local and international whiskies, rum, sake, fortifieds and spirits. What makes this experience truly unique is Dylan's personal wine collection, a treasure trove of tastes not found within a 40-kilometer radius of the restaurant.
Despite its small kitchen, Ordain's culinary creations are nothing short of spectacular. The highlight is the hibachi grill, fired up with compressed charcoal daily. This Japanese BBQ delivers mouthwatering dishes like fresh Tasmanian scallops in whipped miso butter and seaweed, salted zucchini skewers, and rendered pork cheek with pine nuts and Szechuan spices. Daily offerings include freshly baked focaccia, a sumptuous chicken and rabbit pie, charcoal-baked oysters, succulent beef strip loin, and an array of fresh seasonal seafood. Cap off your meal with an affogato and a pistachio and coffee tart—pure indulgence!
